(Manually, not using Windows Backup and Restore)

Open your backup HD and create a new folder. Name it whatever you like, maybe

something like “Backup_(date).” Minimize the new folder so it is handy for you to

use.

(To get your backup HD, open Computer and look for your external HD.

On your desktop you will see a user file icon with Your Name or User or Owner. If it

is not on the desktop, go to Computer > C drive > Users > Your Name or User or

Owner.

Click on it and Open.

With 7’s new organization, it is easy to back up all of the essential folders. If you

only want to save certain ones, it can be done that way.

To backup all in the folder (recommended):

o Click on Edit and Select All

o Right Click on one of the selected folders and Copy

o Maximize your backup folder, Right Click and Paste.

Or, from Jep’s instructions:

o Click on Organize and Select All

o Click on Organize again and Copy

o Maximize the backup folder, click on Organize and Paste.

To backup selected folders (recommended: Documents, Favorites, Desktop)

o Hold down CTRL and select each folder you want to back up.

o Right Click on one of the selected folders (I always use the last one selected

because I’m right there) and Copy.

o Maximize your back up folder, Right Click and Paste.

Or, from Jep’s instructions:

o Select the folder/s you want to back up (CTRL and click on the folder/s).

o Click on Organize and Copy

o Maximize the backup folder, click on Organize and Paste.
